The Wifi on my a new ProBook won't turn on. Device Manager says that the device driver for Wifi won't load and may be missing or corrupted. It says the wireless device is an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC3160 with Bluetooth combo device. The HP driver support page doesn't have a driver for this wireless device.

This is a new ProBook G1 450 which I am still doing basic setup on; I haven't even added my programs to it. I am setting up the preinstalled OS with the HP preinstalled programs. It does successfully connect to the internet via an ethernet cable, and I downloaded many Win 7 and HP updates that way. But it will not connect via a wireless network. It does not recognize that there are any Wifi signals in the area. My old Thinkpad and my tablet recognize a number of strong Wifs in the area, and connect easily to the one which I am authorized to use. The ProBook says there is no wireless in the area.
The ProBook's Wifi is apparently disabled. The wireless light is on (white), and when I click the appropriate icon, there is a message saying that Bluetooth is enabled, but Wifi is disabled. The light is supposed to turn on if either of Wifi or Bluetooth or both are turned on, so it is not a malfunction if it turns on when only one is enabled. But I have not tried Bluetooth yet.
Many other ProBook G1 450's apparently have a Ralink wireless device or certain other devices. Not mine. My ProBook apparently has an Intel Dual Bank Wireless-AC3160 with Bluetooth combo device. That's what Device Manager says. And this device might be excellent or perhaps even a nice improvement. However, unfortunately, Device Manager also says 'Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39).'
The HP support page for driver downloads for my ProBook does not have any driver for such an Intel wireless device. I didn't try the wireless until having installed many Win and HP updates. At the same time that I have noticed the wifi problem, I found that one HP update won't install: that was for Hotkey Support 5. Since then, I am having a little trouble with a couple of other updates. I mention this in case it is of some interest, but I don't see any connection between these updates and Wifi.

I just purchased a new probook 4540s core i5 with win7 x64 system.
Firstly, When battery full charged then turned laptop off for a few hours or next day it becomes 99% or 98% although its plugged in Ac power. Shutdown again for 1 hour and turn on it turns to 97%. Is that ok or there is problem in battery specially it shows that ( Plugged in, Not chareged ) so laptop should operate at AC adapter and battery remain 100%. Secondly, I have an unknown device can't find it as shown in figure below.

I have a HP Envy 13 1150es Laptop and had to do a full Win7 (64bits) reinstall.

I have been running in to an issue lately with a Latitude E5540 laptop.
The specs are:
Intel i5 cpu @ 1.9 ghz
4 gb RAM
x32 Windows 7
In my device manager it says that I have an unknown device and there is the warning symbol next to it. When I go to update the drivers it says that it can't find any drivers (I am connected to the Internet). I looked at the hardware ID and noticed that it was APCISMO8810, I then proceeded to research the driver, which I found was the ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor Driver. I also know what it's primary function is.
The issue I keep running in to is that I have uninstalled the driver, and tried to re-install the driver from the Dell downloads. However halfway through the process the install wizard tells me that the most recently updated driver from dells site is older than the driver I currently have installed. (even though it says there is no driver installed)

Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 :: Bluetooth Unknown Device Driver Failure?

recently purchased a Inspiron 15R 5521 from Dell Australia and took me a few weeks to install and setup the the system the way I want.
Today, I tried to enable bluetooth but the slider won't move to On mode, so I checked Device Manager and Bluetooth device was labeled as Unknown device.
So I checked my service tag numbered driver updates and there's a Intel Centrino Advance-N 2230 15.5.6.48 A02 driver update, so tried updating to that driver. But it returned device not configured correctly and prompting me to reinstall driver. Reinstalling driver fails with code 1 error.
Maybe something physically wrong with the Bluetooth side of the hardware ??? Anyway to confirm such without doing a full factory image restore as it took ages for me to setup the system the way I want !
I've tried, uninstalling the bluetooth device from device manager and restarting Win 8 and reinstalling device via hardware change detection Tried uninstalling Centrino driver and installing previous version of the driver

Dell Inspiron 3537 :: Unknown Driver Appears To Have Caused System Crash

I have a Dell Inspiron 3537 few weeks old. Originaly was Win8, but I update it to Win8.1.
After I registered laptop, next step was to partition my C: partition on two parts, partition C (OS), and D (Data). After that I successfully installed all programs I need. And after few days problems started with few BSoD. There are few problems and I will explain all of them.
My Dell checkup 'Blue screen troubleshooter' reporting every few days one or more BSoD with explanation: 'The unknown driver (C:Windows/system32/drivers/atikmdag.sys) appears to have caused a system crash. Complete the tasks below to prevent unexpected shutdowns in the future.'
On same My Dell checkup I try to run 'PC Checkup', and everything appear OK, no problems reported. Custom scan on only ATI video card (ATI Radeon HD8850), and result is 'Passed'.I also run build in DELL diagnostics (Boot menu) and there was no errors, and also Dell online diagnostics and everything was fine.
I try to install new driver from DELL website (AMD Radeon HD 8850M driver 13.151.0.0), but during installation, screen blinked few times and then went off. I thought that this is OK since video driver was installing. I left Laptop for one hour to 'finish installation' but noting happened. I turned off laptop by pressing ON/OFF button for 5 sec, but after that laptop don't want to restart. Here I noticed other problem I will share with you in the moment. Fortunately, I installed Acronis True Image 2014 so I was able to restore a system. BTW, same driver version was already installed acording to 'MSINFO32).
Now, my system is running, I can still see BSoD warning in My Dell Checkup, but actually I don't actually see this BSoD. Strange. If I right click on desktop and then click on 'Graphics Property' or 'Configure switchable graphics' I get this warning:

I don't have any of this discs coz OS was preinstaled. So, basically I can't use any facilities to recover my laptop because I don't have factory recovery media or recovery disc. Fortunately I'm using Acronis, but that's not a point. I want something to recover my system to original, factory state.
Actually, Windows Restore facilities are OK and I can restore to some point I created.
BTW, my hard drive is partitioned on 7 partitions. Originally there were 6 partitions with huge C: partition. I split this one on two.
And also, since this BSoD is likely caused by video driver, how can I safely update this driver. As explained before, after first try I had disaster. Can I try to install new driver for AMD Radeon HD 8850M from ATI site?

Dell Latitude E4200 :: Serial Port Driver Unknown Device - Windows 7

I installed Windows 7 64 bit on a Dell E4200.I had two yellow exclamation points in device manager for unknown devices.
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communications
I went to Dell support site and to the drivers and downloads page for my Service Tag.Under the Chipset section there is an Intel driver for AMT HECI. Installing that driver solved the PCI Simple Communications item.
Also under Chipset there is an Intel driver AMT SOL. I installed that driver but the PCI Serial Port was still showing Unknown with the Yellow.In my case I had to then manually Update the driver as follows:
Open Device Manager > right click on PCI Serial Port and choose Update driver > choose Browse my computer and browse to the driver folder for the AMT SOL just created when you downloaded and installed the driver mentioned above. Location for me is C:DellDriversR279202.
